When I was in 4th grade, I didn't have the best of friends. Admittedly, I didn't have it that bad, but you know, I was still only 9 years old. But nevertheless, I didn't have the best of friends, and that wasn't necessarily enjoyable.
Enter NDI.
None of the boys in my class really seemed to enjoy, or be good at, dancing. But I loved it. I tried my hardest during that class out of every other, and that made me proud. It made me feel like better than them in a way. But it's grown to be much more than that. NDI has been a huge opportunity for me, as it gave me a huge step into the Arts. Music class was great, but slow paced. Art had its limits. But NDI? NDI let me unleash whatever I decided in dance. When I first got my scholarship, I was ecstatic. NDI has helped me with lots of things, from self-confidence to flexibility to of course, friends.
And NDI is free.
NDI's community is amazing. I've met a whole group of amazing people through this program–and its free summer program. These are amazing people who I see every week and sometimes more often. I might have never known these people without NDI. And by supporting NDI, thousands more children will get to do the same every year.
Did I mention? NDI is completely free.
My brother in my picture is only 2 years old, and I'm hoping that he'll be able to enter NDI along with my newborn baby cousin, future cousins, and every future generation in my family and many, many others.
This is where I stop telling my story, but my story isn't over. I'm still dancing every Saturday, and enjoying every moment of it.
And if you donate, I promise that everyone at NDI thanks you. Just take a look at the other stories!
So please, donate whatever you can to NDI. $1, $5, $10... all of it will help NDI to grow.
We--and every future generation of children--are counting on you.
